Question 1: How do politicians use and manipulate symbols to control the population and/or get what they want?
Question 2: Humans are creatures that have used symbols for as long as we have been alive. What causes us to use symbols? Why are they so essential to a human society?

2) symbols have become such a way or communicating in todays world that i can't even imagine a world with out them. From our street lights to our cell phones. Everything in todays society uses symbols. It enables people to communicate in a very fast and easy way.

Symbols are completely necessary in human life today. They are a form of communication that unlike a language, can be understood by many different people. A symbol can have powerful efffects on people because it isnt just a picture, it is a purpose, action, belief or meaning. A picture is worth a thousand words, sybols are worth even more.
2) I think symbols are their own form of a language. Symbols representing things and make communicating simpler and easier to do so over language barriers. I think they are essential to human society. For an example, America is full of people who speak different languages. On a remote control, it wouldn't be efficient to right the words (like fast forward or pause) but instead you symbols. I think communication is essential to a society, making symbols essential.
Symbols are absolutely essential, they are needed for the perpetuation of the human race, and for that fact any nonverbal communication. A symbol refers to more that just a picture, letters and words are symbols. The word "human" is not a human, but represents the idea of a human. Without symbols, without words, our history could not be passed on and we would not be able to learn from are mistakes.
People have used symbols in all sorts of ways to convey a certain message. I remember watching a special on the history channel that explained how in Nazi Germany, the swastika was originally a symbol for hope and peace. it was warped and twisted by Hitler to send a hateful message.
Symbols are necessary for communicating information quickly and efficiently. Because of that increase in speed and efficiency, we can then communicate more information - such as values, opinions, etc.

I think the reason we use symbols is to communicate feelings, ideas, thoughts, etc...In a a more efficient, expansive manner. Symbols allow much more complicated social interaction and exchange to occur, in a much more rapid manner. Symbols are essential to human society because they elevate humans to a higher intellectual level, which has allowed us to create a complex culture, and seats us part from other mammals in that respect. Without symbols, human society wouldn't exist as we know it today. Society would be much less advanced, and we wouldn't be the special species we are today, but rather normal.trextra
By us using symbols its just another form of communication that we have. It is also something that sets as apart. Almost every other animal on the planet has a way that it communicates with the rest of its kind. But, I cant think of any thing else that uses different symbols for the "sounds" they make. I couldn't imagine a society without symbols. It what makes our communication what it is.

The reason people use symbols is because it is a universal language. It is a way of relaying a message even if there is a language barrier. I can communicate anything also. From feelings to plans. Symbols are a way to communicate to anyone anything!
symbols are a way to communicate with all types of people. When I say types of people I mean people that are higher in society and lower in society. In the past, cultures have used symbols to tell the people in the future (us) their stories and how they lived. An example of this would be the Incas and all of their symbols that were put onto their walls. Symbols are ways of communicating and getting your point across without saying a word to your audience.

The reason that we use symbols is because they are means of influence and comntrol, but it is hard to tell who the symbols influence. symbols are a form of communication, sign language can be seen as a forms of symbols so basically you can literally communicate without saying anything. they are essential to the human society because it links eachone of us together thru a form of communication and language.
